Project Details & Background

In 2017/2018 a renewal project was planned for the ECE outdoor areas at WPS with the aim to achieve a more inviting and stimulating outdoor environment using nature based elements throughout the concept plan. The renewal project was driven by the Grounds Committee and planned in consultation with the ECE staff, NQS committee, School Board, P&C and Cure Landscaping. Budget allocations were made by the school grounds committee and the P&C. Funding grants were also applied for based on this plan but unfortunately we were not successful in our grant requests. As a result, only a portion of the project was funded (Kindy area and the bike path area in front of the kindy gates). There were very limited funds left for the central area and the logs were installed in the area as a starting point. The intent was to keep adding nature themed elements to the area based on the concept plan as funding became available. The P&C has been fundraising since 2018 with the intent of allocating funds towards this project however, from 2019 the grounds committee became inactive, and the project stalled. Last year at the P&C's EGM the P&C recommitted to this project. The department referred the school to Nature Based Play who consulted directly with the school to design concept plans in line with Department standards. A lot of time, effort and planning went into this project over the years. With YOUR HELP this project can finally be realised to it's full potential.
